Online Ordering and Delivery Aggregators Without the Tablet Farm

A practical guide to first-party and third-party online ordering on NoPOS: one menu of record, aggregator orders fired to the kitchen like any other ticket, and payouts reconciled to the penny.

The NoPOS developer relations team writes practical guides for building on the NoPOS REST API — from first smoke test to production POS.

Your dining room runs on one POS while a row of delivery tablets screams beside it — re-keyed items, wrong prices, and a 30% commission on an order that never touched your menu. Make your own menu the system of record, pull aggregator orders into the same ticket flow, and reconcile every payout against what the kitchen actually fired.

Keep one menu of record

  • Publish item names, prices, modifiers, and availability from NoPOS outward so DoorDash, Uber Eats, and your own site all sell the same thing at the right price.
  • Push 86'd items and price changes once and let every channel inherit them, instead of editing the same sold-out special on four tablets.
  • Separate channel-specific price levels from the dine-in menu so delivery markups cover commissions without leaking into the room.

Fire aggregator orders like any other ticket

  • Ingest third-party orders through the order API so they land on the KDS with the same coursing, firing, and routing rules as a server-entered ticket.
  • Auto-accept within your prep-time promise during rushes, and throttle or pause channels per location when the kitchen hits capacity — no tablet-tapping mid-rush.
  • Print one consolidated expo slip per aggregator order with the marketplace name, pickup code, and promised time so handoff never depends on a tablet screen.

Reconcile every payout to the penny

  1. Match each aggregator payout line to its original ticket — subtotal, commission, fees, refunds — so end-of-day close shows exactly what each channel kept.
  2. Route refunds and cancels back through the original channel record so a DoorDash refund never shows up as an unexplained dining-room void.
  3. Review channel mix weekly: if a marketplace grows volume but keeps margin after commissions and error refunds, renegotiate terms or steer guests to commission-free first-party ordering.

Use Swagger UI or OpenAPI for the current order-ingest, channel-menu, and payout-reconciliation shapes.
